Time Flies: 20 Years of Commitment

A classroom in Nepal, 2017 (Ryann Flippo)

There’s that old saying, “Time flies when you’re having fun.” If that’s the case, I’ve been having a blast! Without paying much attention, the calendar tells me 20 years have passed since I first joined Worldwide Christian Schools, now Tent Schools International – 20 years and a world of blessings.

Who can measure the blessing of seeing classrooms full of children beaming with excitement, simply because they had access to a school for the first time, and a Christian school at that?

How can I begin to measure the ripple effect of training teachers dedicated to living out God’s call in the most remote or congested urban settings?

How many lessons of love have I been taught by volunteers who sacrificed weeks of work away from home to sweat alongside new friends in another country and culture as another classroom for Jesus’ kids goes up?

And what blessings you have been! I am humbled by you, our supporters, who have been with us for years or are new to our Circle of Friends, supporting and keeping these blessings flowing over the continents through your prayers and gifts.

These days, 20 years is considered a long time to be committed to anything. But, through God’s grace and through all the children, parents, teachers, volunteers and supporters, we can do “all things through Christ who strengthens us.”

Just before writing this, I went through a personal health issue which has caused me to reflect on what the grace of God is all about; how He carried me around the world so many times to bear witness to what He is doing through the servants who are His hands, feet and heart at work day-by-day for children, so they may explore their gifts, bless others, and know they are loved by untold numbers of friends never seen, namely, you.

I am blessed to be back, to be here, and to see another fiscal year about to begin on July 1. My prayer is that you, too, will help see us through this next and, most assuredly, amazing year. Together, let’s give all God has given us to give, through time or talents, so that children even in the most anti-Christian places may one day testify, “Jesus loves me, this I know.”

Thank you for being part of the best 20 years of my life.

God bless you and yours, always.
