Tent Schools International

Scott Vander Kooy 

Scott leads the team at Tent Schools International (TSI), guiding our vision since 2001. He has traveled widely through his work with TSI – formerly Worldwide Christian Schools – building partnerships in the Philippines, Singapore, China, India, Romania, Ukraine and Guatemala. Scott oversees our finances and pursues opportunities to grow and spread the TSI mission.

Scott studied Business/Economics and Political Science at Calvin University. He is also president and founder of TSI’s sister organization Comprenew, an electronics recycling company dedicated to environmental care and vocational preparedness for people from all backgrounds. Under his leadership, Comprenew and TSI offer discounted and free technology to refugee and resettled families through our LEAP program.

Growing up in Illinois, New York and Michigan, Scott’s favorite subject in school was Science. He is passionate about equity, environmental protection, business leadership and spending time with his family at Stony Lake in Michigan. Scott and his wife, Jan, have three grown children and two grandchildren.
