A former refugee helps deliver clean water to Burundian students in Tanzania
Norbert Mbwiliza is a former refugee who now runs an NGO that ministers to Burundian children attending Msaginya Primary School in Katumba Camp, Tanzania. Burundians have been displaced to Tanzania for decades due to internal conflict in their home nation. Mbwiliza himself came as a refugee with his parents in the late 1970s and attended Msaginya. TSI donors recently covered the cost of a clean water system at the school, a first for this community.
A word from Norbert Mbwiliza:
We are filled with gratitude and joy to share that 1,200 children are now directly benefiting from a newly installed water system. This project has already begun transforming daily life for both students and staff in a remarkable way.
A quick installation process
The installation process was completed successfully in just two weeks, a testament to the commitment, teamwork, and dedication of everyone involved. What once seemed like a distant hope has now become a life-changing reality.
Before this project, accessing clean and safe water was a significant challenge for Msaginya. Students often had to walk long distances to fetch water, which was not always clean or reliable. This not only consumed valuable learning time but also exposed them to health risks. Cases of waterborne illnesses such as stomach infections and general poor hygiene conditions were a concern, affecting attendance and overall student well-being.
The gift of clean, accessible water
Today, the situation has completely changed. Clean water is now readily available on the school premises. Students can focus on their studies, maintain proper hygiene, and enjoy a healthier learning environment. The smiles on their faces and renewed energy in classrooms clearly show the impact of your generosity.
A big thank you to TSI donors
To our dear donors, we say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your support has not only provided water but has restored dignity, improved health, and created a better future for these children. You have become a vital part of their story.
May God richly bless you for your kindness and compassion. Your contribution is making a lasting difference —one child, one life, and one future at a time.•
Thank you for supporting the clean water project at Msaginya Primary School in Katumba Camp! Please keep TSI’s partner in Tanzania in your prayers or support them directly with a gift today.
